Resources
Grants
Grants often fund items that insurance doesn’t fully cover, including patient lifts. By providing financial support for these essential tools, grants help people with mobility disabilities maintain greater independence, improve daily functioning, and reduce the physical strain on both the individual and their caregivers.

Veterans
The VA Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) provides veterans with a broad range of medical devices, mobility equipment, and durable medical equipment designed to improve function, independence, mobility, safety, and overall quality of life. These services support veterans in daily activities and community reintegration. Veterans qualify if they are enrolled in VA health care and have a medical need determined by a VA provider.
VA Housing Grants
Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) Grant
Helps veterans with certain service-connected disabilities build, buy, or modify a home for accessibility.
Special Housing Adaptation (SHA) Grant
Assists veterans with specific disabilities in adapting an existing home for safety and independence.
Home Improvements and Structural Alterations (HISA) Grant
Covers medically necessary home improvements, such as ramps, accessible bathrooms, or widened doorways.
Medicaid Waiver
Medicaid waivers are state-administered programs that fund home and community-based services (HCBS) instead of institutional care, empowering people with disabilities, seniors, and those with chronic health conditions to live with dignity in their own homes and communities.

The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) is committed to strengthening the nation’s ability to assist crime victims.
